Feature Stories - Glenns's Story
Before InRETURN, and January 2011, I worked as a nurse's aide. I was a state tested nursing assistant. I was able to help the people who lived at the nursing homes walk, and get down steps and get in cars and anything I could do to help them. But I can't do that anymore. After a seizure, I went from being the person who was the helper to the person who needed help.

In January of 2011, I had a seizure and had to move into a nursing home. When I got somewhat better, I spent some time in another nursing home where they didn't watch you as much. After that, I sold my house and I moved into my sister's house. I stayed there until it was easier to move around and do things by myself.

Now I have my own apartment in Old Loveland. It's neat because it's like a little town and I can walk anywhere that I want to go. I have been there about a month and it is pretty good, and I can go anywhere I want to go and that's what's good about it.

At InRETURN I fill the socks, seal pillowcases, make the caps and also help David Tirado with the boxes. I really like Sister's Bertha's reading class. We get to put in our own opinions. Right now we are reading a book about Rwanda. It really relates to today about individualism and the rest of the world. In my free time I like to draw and I'm trying to write. I also like to work with wood and furniture. It's very hard to think about what I want to do in the future especially after everything that has happened, but I want to do something with people in a helping manner.

InRETURN is helping me terrifically getting to that point where I will be able to help people and is helping me with this new chapter in my life.
